Getting fit and creative with Mocap
Last year Universal Arches was awarded with ‘Most Creative Shell Scheme Stand’ in the FIT Show Awards, and achieved the highest footfall. Leon Day, managing director, highlights what will be instore for visitors this year, with pioneering Mocap technology.
It seems nigh on impossible for us to surpass the previous success of the FIT Show for Universal Arches in 2017, but we have put considerable time and effort into creating something unique for visitors with the first ever Mocap technology seen at the show.
We firmly believe that you don’t have to commit six figure sums to generate considerable interest on an exhibition stand, rather maximise what you’ve got, get creative and ensure you engage your target audience.
Wikipedia will tell you that Motion capture (Mocap for short) is the process of recording the movement of objects or people.
“It is used in military, entertainment, sports, medical applications, and for validation of computer vision and robotics,” it says. “In filmmaking and video game development, it refers to recording actions of human actors, and using that information to animate digital character models in 2D or 3D computer animation.”
For the purposes of shows and exhibitions, is a real crowd puller. We will bring the virtual characters of Archie and Sasha to the show, who will have full mobility, expressions and they will also be able interact and talk back to stand visitors and passes by.
But the use of Mocap shouldn’t necessarily overshadow what we will be showing on the stand in terms of products. In 2016, we brought a distinctly British theme to the stand with a Big Ben Clock and Union Jack, but this year our products will take on finishes inspired by metal. We will again be sponsoring the lanyards with an Ultion key and hope to encourage as many visitors as possible to attempt to open a set of arched Solidor composite french doors, with the chance to win a latest generation iPad.
In 2016, we generated a record breaking footfall of 3,217 visitors to our stand and we hope to surpass this in May this year at the FIT Show, with the added benefit of being able to harness the digital capabilities of Archie and Sasha and of course through our sales support team of Caitlin and Kayleigh.
The fact that we were rewarded with ‘Most Creative Shell Scheme Stand’ in the FIT Show Awards 2016, was a great compliment to all those that are involved with Universal Arches. We thoroughly enjoy what we do and with a strong and dedicated team within the business, it makes life considerably easier despite the long days involved with the build up to the show.
This show award was subsequently followed up by the fact that the Association of Exhibition Organisers wanted to present our stand, concept and management as part of a Masterclass series as to how to maximise your shell scheme stand. That’s not to say we believe we are masters at exhibiting, but we do understand how to maximise our budget and how to engage with our target audience in a meaningful and creative way.
The FIT Show in 2017 will reside at the NEC for the first time ever and brings back memories of the halcyon days of Glassex. But since then the industry has come of age, become far more marketing astute and now has brought professional standards to light.
We hope that you’ll share your experiences on social media with #archieandsasha with #fitshow.
