Innovation without compromise

Veka’s national specification manager, Tim James, discusses how the system company’s door innovations continue to meet evolving demands.

From contemporary commercial buildings to traditional residential homes, today’s door systems are expected to do far more than just provide access. They must achieve exceptional thermal efficiency, robust security and refined aesthetics while adhering to increasingly stringent building regulations.

As a leader in advanced PVC-U door systems, Veka continues to respond to these pressures through targeted innovation. Developing solutions that align with current and future market needs, combining performance and visual appeal without compromise.

Elevating thermal performance

The thermal performance of entrance doors, whether residential or commercial, has never been more important as the world strives for improved energy efficiency.

Low U-values assist specifiers and developers in meeting current and future building regulations, particularly those associated with Passivhaus and Net Zero standards, while also contributing to increased comfort and lower energy bills.

That is why Veka designs every product with thermal performance as a core priority.

The innovation within the Omnia range demonstrates this commitment, achieving a U-value as low as 0.89 W/m²K when specified with triple glazing, made possible by double rebates, which provide enhanced sealing and reduced heat loss at critical junctions.

However, the Veka M70 door system pushes performance even further, delivering an impressive U-value of 0.80 W/m²K. Its multi-chambered profile design traps air within the frame, effectively reducing thermal transmittance.

Design flexibility

The colour and finish of a door creates the first impression of any home or building, whether it’s the charm of traditional heritage or the sleek minimalism of contemporary aluminium.

This year, Veka introduced Feinstruktur, our latest colour foil innovation that has been designed to allow homeowners and specifiers to achieve a modern aluminium aesthetic without compromising on the thermal performance, affordability and low-maintenance benefits of high-quality PVC-U. Feinstruktur delivers a premium finish and sophisticated matte texture which captures the look and feel of powder-coated aluminium.

In addition to colour versatility, Veka’s Omnia suite allows for cohesive, elegant design across the entire property. It enables a unified look between windows and doors, with a consistent double flush profile that delivers clean, symmetrical sightlines inside and out.

This attention to design detail doesn’t come at the expense of performance – the Omnia suite is engineered to meet and exceed today’s demanding thermal and security standards, combining style with substance in every element.

Uncompromising security

Security is another crucial pillar of modern door performance, especially as homeowners, developers and building managers increasingly prioritise safety and peace of mind.

Veka’s door systems are engineered with this in mind, incorporating advanced multi-point locking systems, reinforced profiles and robust hardware options. Every design is thoroughly tested to meet rigorous standards, including PAS 24 certification, which is an essential requirement for doors installed in new-build properties under Part Q of the Building Regulations.

In addition, Veka’s doors proudly carry the Secured by Design accreditation, the official Police Preferred Specification and a respected mark of security excellence that recognises the highest standards for preventing crime through intelligent design and tested performance.

By delivering door systems that offer strength, compliance and lasting reliability, Veka ensures that customers never have to compromise on safety – whether they’re upgrading an existing home or specifying products for new developments.

Sustainable and durable

As a fully closed-loop manufacturer, Veka integrates advanced recycling processes to minimise environmental impact without compromising product quality.

The average PVC-U window has a lifespan of at least 35 years and can be recycled up to ten times and with Veka both manufacturing and providing the recycling through Veka Recycling, Veka doors can effectively have a 350-year lifespan.

As demands on door systems continue to evolve, Veka will continue to innovate and develop solutions that exceed expectations in thermal efficiency, design versatility, security and sustainability.
