First choice for powder coating

By John Park-Davies, group managing director, Vertik-Al.
Vertik-Al has been coating architectural aluminium and component parts for almost 60 years. Our coatings ensure products and structures will last for many years. This is our purpose and legacy.
As a stable and forward-thinking business, we invest in equipment, processes and people. In recent years, our investment plans have carried on regardless of external factors. Most significantly, we installed a new vertical powder coating booth, the fourth in a series of multi-million-pound planned investments which also include the installation of new horizontal powder coating plants and the upgrade of an existing horizontal line.
These machines give us the very best efficiencies in powder consumption and deliver superior quality coatings. With shorter colour changes and targeted application, and with less potential for cross contamination, output has greatly increased in line with customer demands.
Quality and speed
The quality of our coatings is matched by the quality of our service. We have always offered one of the fastest turnaround services in the industry, which coupled with a competitive price, has enabled us to maintain our leading edge for the almost six decades.
This is what we have built the business on, offering all our customers a single source for their powder coating needs.
Over a 24-hour period, we receive and process more than 10,000 items for powder coating. Our operations team is responsible for ensuring each item is meticulously planned, sequenced, programmed, pre-treated, coated, rolled, quality-checked, packed, and dispatched. This process happens every day – on time and in full.
Proven high standards
We underpin these processes with certification from two of the world’s leading authorities on coatings and finishes, GSB International and Qualicoat.
We are subject to unannounced audits multiple times each year, requiring us to consistently maintain the rigorous standards set by both GSB and Qualicoat. This level of scrutiny demands continuous vigilance, disciplined processes, and a steadfast commitment to quality across all areas of our business.
We are the only applicator in the UK and Ireland to hold the GSB International Master Seal for Approved Coater Aluminium and have done so since 1994. We are also a Qualicoat licenced coater, again, a status we have held since 1994.
For complete assurance, we are a BSI Registered Firm and meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 Quality management systems. Our coatings comply with BS EN 12206-1 (Paints and varnishes. Coating of aluminium and aluminium alloys for architectural purposes – Coatings prepared from coating powder).
Meeting and upholding these standards builds confidence across the entire supply chain. By demonstrating full compliance, we provide our customers with the assurance that they can rely on the quality of our coatings – an assurance that extends to and is valued by all stakeholders.
Experience in aluminium
While already a well-established choice for architects and specifiers, demand for aluminium fenestration products continues to grow amongst homeowners.
If proof were needed of the rising popularity of aluminium than a walk around this year’s FIT Show would have clinched it – there appeared to be more aluminium product manufacturers and suppliers at FIT Show 2025 than ever before. And we are here to support these new entrants.
They may need a primary or even secondary coating supplier, and we want to be their first choice. Coating thousands of linear metres of bar length each week, plus thousands of pressings, panels, cills, rainwater goods, tubes, posts and associated items – we know all there is to know about coating aluminium.
