Lock upgrade

Eight Winkhaus AV2-E automatic locks were included on Bolton luxury apartment complex where new composite entrance doors have been installed.

The new Solidor Milano composite doors were installed by Winkhaus customer Fenster Trade Frames at the Thomasson Court Apartments. Replacing original timber doors that were rotting and insecure, the new ones are finished in anthracite grey with 1,800mm brushed stainless steel pull bar handles and stipolyte/obscure glass.

Andy Dempsey, Fenster Trade Frames’ managing director, said: “This type of lock worked well for Thomasson Court Apartments, as the slam-shut capability ensures the door is very secure, yet it can be electronically opened using the key fobs, touch free pads and the intercom. This provides excellent convenience in a communal property.”

Key factors for the project’s success, he said, were careful pre-planning and liaison with Thomasson Court’s management team on when and where the eight doors would be installed. The whole project went smoothly and was completed in five days.

“The Director insisted on the better security provided by a Solidor composite door and Winkhaus lock as they were aware of the products’ performance on homes within his family,” Andy said. “Low maintenance was an additional benefit they had recognised too.”
