Stellar achieves Qualicoat Seaside specification

Stellar Aluminium has achieved the Qualicoat Seaside specification, an even more demanding standard than the traditional Qualicoat award. As such, it joins an exclusive group of fewer than 20 UK companies that hold this prestigious mark of quality.

Phil Parry, technical director at Epwin Window Systems, said: “Quality has always been a watchword for Stellar Aluminium, so we’ve always worked to the Seaside specification. The commitment to the higher standard means the system is increasingly being specified in coastal locations, so we’ve formalised the standard to give our customers an even stronger competitive differentiator.”

The Qualicoat Seaside specification is said to be the most robust specification readily available in the UK and Ireland. As well as specifying minimum etch requirements within the pretreatment process for enhanced coastal applications, it also includes regular finished powder coated surface laboratory tests for filiform corrosion resistance, something which BS EN 12206-1 (coating of aluminium and aluminium alloys for architectural purposes) does not require.

According to Stellar Aluminium, the award of the Qualicoat Seaside specification reflects its commitment to the quality of the finish on the system. For example, the system is rolled after it is painted to remove the possibility of overspray issues.

Every product is also inspected before it leaves the facility.

Phil commented: “Every aspect of Stellar Aluminium is designed to set a new standard for the industry, and quality is no exception.”

Stellar Aluminium is a whole house aluminium window and solution suitable for all market sectors. It’s also capable of meeting and exceeding the requirements of Part L and Part Q of Building Regulations across the entire range as standard.

The system is designed to be fast to fabricate and to install. It uses knock-in, pre-gasketed glazing beads, which speed up the installation process and leave a neater gasket line.
