DoorCo supports Mental Health May

DoorCo has been supporting team members Mark Towers and Lucy Daniels ahead of their Kelly’s Heroes Kilimanjaro challenge – both have taken on the challenge of taking 100,000 steps in May, and are said to already by ahead of their target.

The composite door manufacturer has also been supporting ‘Mental Health May’, a national awareness campaign that has been running for over 20 years.

DoorCo marketing manager, Ellie Pool, said: “In support of the national mental health awareness campaign, which this year is focused on movement, we challenged everyone in the DoorCo team to take 100,000 steps throughout the month. In true DoorCo spirit, they have embraced the challenge and at the midway point have already collectively taken 2.9million steps! In fact, the original challenge was met by one person within five days!

“There is a clear correlation between physical and mental health so it’s fantastic that everyone has embraced the challenge and had fun at the same time, using their break times to get as many steps in as they can via local walks we mapped out and other physical activities.

“As the month continues, we’re encouraging everyone to keep their steps going and sharing key resources via a dedicated wellbeing zone on our internal Compass system and educational updates on the screens around our factories.

“The achievements of the team will be rewarded on 31 May with a celebration that includes mini-challenges to get those last few steps in, some fundraising initiatives for Mark & Lucy, and a prize giving ceremony for the most active.

“We wanted Mental Health May to be a highlight on our 2024 wellbeing calendar and so far, it seems to be delivering!”
