Demand for energy efficient glazing

Trade fabricator, Bedfordshire Windows says demand in higher energy efficiency glazing is here to stay, and it’s backed up by the latest research from Selfbuilder and Homemaker Magazine, which showed that 64% of homeowners want to reduce their carbon footprint and avoid contributing to climate change.

Gary Walker, joint MD of Bedfordshire Windows, said: “We agree with the Selfbuilder and Homemaker results, especially when it comes to our products going into extensions and self-build homes. We know that homeowners want to reduce their future heating costs and choosing higher performing energy efficiency glazing helps deliver long term savings.

“We have created a complete range of PVC-U and aluminium products to ensure our trade customers can choose higher performing options.

“Our range includes the best performing PVC-U system on the market today with its revolutionary multi-chambered profile that achieves an A+ Energy rating as standard and U-values as low as 0.8 W/m²K. It is also 100% lead-free and fully recyclable, which makes it one of the most environmentally friendly products available.

“We also offer the top levels of energy efficiency with our aluminium range of windows, bi-fold and sliding doors. In fact, we believe we have one of the best ranges of products to support our trade customers, especially those looking for higher performance glazing.

“In the latest round of Building Regulations, the Government didn’t make many changes to glazing, instead it looked at the total performance of buildings and retrofit, so that energy performance of the glazing element is taken into consideration across the whole project. We think this is a bonus for installation companies, as they can choose how to tackle how the glazing fits into the overall performance.”
