Made For Trade wins King’s Award for Innovation

Made For Trade (MFT) has won a 2024 King’s Award for Innovation for the Korniche roof lantern.

Established in 1965, The King’s Award for Enterprise is one of the UK’s most distinguished business commendations and celebrates businesses that pioneer innovation, sustainable practices, and social mobility.

Made For Trade, which is said to have ‘demonstrated a commitment to excelling and pushing boundaries within the home building industry’, has grown from a fabricator of third-party systems to a business that designs, engineers, and builds its own products at scale.

According to MFT, the Korniche lantern has set ‘a new paradigm in design and functionality’, raising standards in the industry.

Boasting a ‘cutting-edge’ design, swift assembly time, and seamless fitting, MFT says the Korniche lantern has disrupted the home building sector as it is more thermally efficient but also much easier to install than traditional, PVC clad aluminium systems.

Design features include sleek end caps that can be installed with no visible fixings, a unique glazing retainer that prevents glass from slipping, masking the glass edge and further simplifying installation.

The Korniche lantern also features a user-friendly assembling mechanism for ‘quick and reliable’ installation and a patented boss design that replicates a traditional timber ‘bird’s mouth’ joint, allowing for a virtually seamless and aesthetically pleasing connection.

Thanks to its ease of installation, thermal efficiency and design aesthetics, MFT says that the Korniche lantern has benefitted the trade and consumers thanks to its increased efficiency and reduced costs.

MFT has recently introduced a new online service tool, called KwikQuote’ that allows customers to realise even more potential from the Korniche range.
