Sheerline says that its latest innovation, the S3 architectural roof system, has redefined single pitch roof design for modern aluminium extensions.

First revealed to the industry at the 2025 FIT Show, the sleek, thermally advanced single pitch roof system is said to have wowed visitors with its modern detailing, thermal performance and fast-fit design.

Designed from the ground up to streamline fabrication and installation, the S3 stands as the latest evolution in Sheerline’s S Series following the success of the award-winning S1 roof lantern and S2 glazed roof systems.

Backed by Sheerline’s Thermlock technology the S3 architectural roof system was developed in-house by Sheerline’s experienced design team, led by project design manager, Jon Crohill, the driving force behind the acclaimed S1 lantern.

From the pre-set pitch options and reduced component count to the intelligent triple-lock wall plate that simplifies sealing and boosts thermal performance, it delivers precisely what the market needs.

The S3 will be available initially from Sheerline Bespoke, Sheerline’s new product focussed division, and supporting the vision behind the S3 is Sheerline Bespoke’s operations director, Chris Baron and commercial director, Chris Cooke, both of whom bring decades of industry expertise from their time at Prefix Systems.

“Having worked closely with the Sheerline team in the past, we knew the S1 and S2 already raised the bar, and it’s fantastic to see them do the same with the S3,” explained Chris Baron. “It sets a new benchmark for performance and aesthetics and is far superior to anything else currently on the market.”

“Installers need roof systems that are quick and easy to fit and the S3 is delivered in pre-configured kits with fewer components than a traditional ‘lean-to’ system, allowing for faster on-site assembly,” added Chris Cooke.”

“We know that customers are being asked to take on more complex and specialist work – and not every business is set up for that. That’s why the S3 roof is designed to take the complexity out. It’s pre-configured, straightforward to install, and helps fabricators take on high-value jobs with confidence.”

He adds that today’s glazed extensions are expected to feel like an integral part of the home and be stylish, warm, and functional year-round. And increasingly, that means aluminium.

“Aluminium is more robust, versatile, better looking, there’s no colour fading so the finishes last longer, and it will stand up to the extremities of a British winter, so aluminium should always be the go-to material for a roof system,” said Chris Baron.

The popularity of clean, square lines and large openings for bi-fold or sliding doors has also shaped the S3’s design, said Chris.

“Lean-to’s are still hugely popular, but customers want them with a sharp, modern look. The S3 delivers that, and with its spanning capabilities, it’s ideal for wide openings and outdoor structures too. Bi-folds and sliders have really taken a grip in the last few years and the roof systems that sit above them need to be able to cater for them.”

The S3 has also been designed to integrate perfectly with Sheerline’s full range of aluminium windows and doors, providing a cohesive and fully matched solution for installers and homeowners alike.

With fewer components and a factory-set pitch the S3 allows for faster, more accurate installations with reduced time required onsite.

Fully thermally broken, Sheerline claims that it delivers up to 230% better insulation than traditional roofs, while a unique triple-lock wall plate enhances thermal efficiency and a tighter seal. Deep 130mm rafter bars, a flush in-line ridge cap, and shallow external rafter caps provide a sleek, modern finish.

Optional SheerVent roof vents can be added for advanced ventilation, while a fully integrated aluminium guttering features a concealed fitting and an insulated eaves beam.

“We believe the S3 is going to change the game,” said Chris Baron. “There’s nothing else like it on the market – it looks better, performs better, and installs quicker. It gives our customers an edge in a competitive market.”

Chris Cooke agrees: “The S3 is of the moment and exactly where the market needs to go; it’s contemporary, thermally efficient, and its versatility means it can be used on a glazed extension or on canapes or other outdoor living structures. It’s a complete package, and it’s ready to go.”
