The prefix standard

Chris Cooke, director of Prefix Systems, talks about the company’s unrivalled standards when it comes to product design, manufacturing excellence and outstanding customer care. It’s about being best in class throughout all aspects of business, he adds.

Companies throughout our industry make bold claims, some back this up with factual and supporting evidence while others are merely causing disruption at best or – at the other end of the scale – are not telling the truth.

Our job as an industry is to be transparent and honest and this reflects on our customers and in their ability to communicate everything effectively and accurately to the consumer.

Prefix Systems is much more than just a roofing manufacturer, we are a modern, award-winning product systems designer offering best in class solutions for glazed roofs, warm roofs and for outdoor living solutions. This has been achieved thanks to a 28-year history in the sector, a continued investment programme in research and development and a big commitment to customer care. It’s also why some of the UK’s most trusted and respected installation companies, fabricators and trade intermediaries have partnered with us.

The Prefix Standard is a business philosophy that has served us well. After all, if we are unable to source a best-in-class supplier for products within the UK, Europe or indeed further afield then we will develop and design our own solutions. The multi award winning Warmroof is a perfect example of how we have been able to invest in a product solution that performs far better than others in the solid roof market and it’s arguably the only true ‘warm roof’ by definition.

These design principles also extend to glazed roofs. In a market that has seen little innovation over the last 15 years, we have had to step away from a tired supply partner of over 27 years to Sheerline, who launched the next generation S2 glass roof system. This was in order to fulfil the need for best-in-class products, to differentiate from competitors and to help our customers with more innovative products in which to enhance their reputation. The new slimline roof vent for S2 is a perfect example of this.

It’s been a bold yet necessary move for the business and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

As with the S1 lantern, the S2 glazed roofs are class leading and epitomise the best-in-class modern glazed roof.

Gone are the twee cresting, finials and cappings that typify the traditional conservatory sector.

The S2 features up-to-date bold square cappings, the option of an aluminium exterior and all based on a proven and structurally superior chassis – it’s a product design that’s really ignited interest across the market. And, we’re now dealing direct with a systems house extruder in the form of Garnalex to ensure we are competitive!

The third facet of our product strategy is formed around the rapidly emerging outdoor living market, and this includes our impressive classic and contemporary Verandah solutions and other pergolas and canopies. This helps make Prefix Systems the perfect one-stop solution for the extended living space market and one that we cover for the entire UK including Scotland and Wales.

We’re also an owner managed business and that means Chris Baron, Matt Cheetham and I are able to make decisions quickly and in the interests of everyone without the grind of meetings, more meetings and sub meetings.

To sit still in business is in effect to go backwards as opportunities get missed, so the S1, S2, Warmroof and outdoor living products have been a blessing not just for us but for the sector as a whole as we look to expand the product opportunities for all.

The Prefix Standard is our product promise to offer the best-in-class solutions for glazed and solid roofs along with outdoor living solutions. We’re a perfect fit for businesses that are looking for better product solutions that will realise more referrals and near zero call backs and backed up with our unrivalled levels of customer care, technical support and industry know-how.
