Bethaney Larkman, marketing manager for Distinction Doors, reveals the company’s most popular GRP composite entrance doors in 2021.
The most popular door style for 2021 is Esteem (ES02), the enduring option for a traditional front door. Palma is the number-one glass design, combining geometric shapes in transparent and stippled glass with zinc calming. And topping the Distinction bespoke colour chart is anthracite grey.

Traditional door styles dominated Distinction’s door sales this year. Doors from both the signature and nxt-gen collections rank highly, with Esteem and Elegance (EL01) featuring multiple times.
The remainder of the top ten continues the traditional theme with both Rustic Renown (RR02) and Rustic Renown Diamond (RR03) included. Cottage (RE01), Classical (CL01), and Eclat (EC01) come in at places six, seven and nine, respectively.

Customers chose to complement these traditional door styles with classic glass designs. Diamonds with linear shapes in stippled and obscure glass dominate the top three: Palma, Kara and Lunna.
Aspen and Trieste also feature, and offer a flavour of the arts and crafts movement, an ideal choice for properties dating to the mid-19th to early 20th century.
Accents of colour also made it into the top ten with Kara offering four colour options for its diamond detail and the more elaborate Edwardian featuring red and green elements.

With anthracite grey reigning supreme in the number-one slot, it’s certainly not the only shade of grey in the Distinction top ten of bespoke colours. In fact, 50% of the chart is grey, five of which are in the top six. Tonal variations of blue and green follow closely behind – Steel Blue, Chartwell, and Azure Blue – while Ruby Red and Black Brown inject some drama; two classic shades for traditional door styles.
It’s always interesting to find out which products and colours our customers favour. We’re not surprised by the enduring popularity of grey but what is striking is the combination of a modern colour palette with classic entrance door designs and decorative glass. It’s a mix that works well for older and newbuild properties, and has universal appeal.
With new door designs and cassette options launching in 2022, alongside a refreshed paint offering, we’re excited to see what our customers will choose next year.
