As one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of PVC-U panels, composite doors and fire doors and with over 25 years experience – Hurst is founded on a firm set of principles placing the customer at the heart of everything they do.

As well as producing over 3,000 PVC-U door panels, the manufacturer also produces over 500 composite doors each week and is focussed on further investment in 2023 for continued growth.

According to Kevin Wheatman, general manager at Hurst, key to that growth will be partnering with trustworthy suppliers.

“You can’t just make demands on your supplier and expect to have a good working relationship” explained Kevin.

“The key is creating working partnerships where there is no perceived hierarchy, built on mutual respect, so you can proactively work together in order to satisfy both of your businesses needs, and this is the sort of relationship we are proud to say we have with DoorCo.

“We order from them every day, as well as receiving daily deliveries, so both sides have to work as effectively as each other to ensure everything runs smoothly. Communication is also key,” he continued. “You need people to pick up the phone and be available should you need them and I can honestly say that the DoorCo team is always on hand to resolve any issues that may have arisen and of course, if we can assist in that, then we do.”

Mark Atkinson, sales director at Hurst, commented: “From a sales perspective, it’s great to see how forward thinking and proactive DoorCo is. We are like minded in our approach, which is why our businesses align so well.

“Overall, we cannot fault DoorCo in terms of customer service and product quality. There have been some wider issues that have affected the supply chain, but we were still able to navigate through those successfully because things were handled professionally. As Kevin says, for any business relationship, communication and transparency is key.

“DoorCo has proven to be both these things, as every member of the team has always been available to us when required,” he added. “DoorCo does a great job of marketing its products and supports us in the marketing of ours and we look forward to further developing our proactive business partnership.”

Ben Aspinall, head of technology and marketing at DoorCo, said: “Hurst became a DoorCo customer just prior to the pandemic and the subsequent market supply issues that followed, but we worked as one team from the outset in order to navigate those issues as best we could.

“The technology teams at both ends worked together to ensure electronic ordering was in place for seamless transactions and so they could hit the ground running and we’ve come out the other side with a really strong working partnership.

“We are committed to continual development and have plans in place to make additional IT improvements to smooth the process further,” he concluded. “We will continue to evaluate and evolve what we do to ensure our customers get the most effective service from DoorCo, tailored to suit their business needs.”
