Glazing Summit returns

The glazing industry’s must-attend conference returns – and it’s set to be bigger and better, as it organisers explain.

The Glazing Summit takes place on Thursday, October at Edgbaston Stadium, and more than 400 industry leaders from across the industry are set to attend.

Organisers Purplex Marketing and Insight Data have revealed some exciting new developments for 2020, including the Glazing Summit Awards and a Glazing Summit Networking event in May.

Andrew Scott, founder of the Glazing Summit and CEO of organisers Insight Data and Purplex Marketing, said: “After a hugely successful 2019 event, the challenge is to provide an even better experience this year and continue to progress the event.

“The Glazing Summit is becoming one of the most important dates in the industry calendar and, having raised the bar last year, we want to take it up a notch again.”

Last year saw five dynamic debates on some of the biggest issues facing the industry with a panel of expert speakers, including: recycling; regulations; smart tech and innovation; tackling barriers to growth; and how to maximise acquisitions.

This year, a new line-up of industry experts will take to the main stage to discuss the key issues, and organisers are working on the agenda now.

“We plan to provide some more well thought out topics for our panellists to get their teeth into, and we’ll be tackling climate change and sustainability in a much bigger way due to the government’s drive towards a net-zero carbon target by 2050, consolidation and M&A, and also organisational excellence,” Andrew said.

The Glazing Summit Awards will be very different and complementary to the existing and well-established industry awards, which promote sector and product expertise.

The objective of the Glazing Summit Awards is to focus on business excellence and showcase the industry to the outside world.

Categories will include: Sustainability Award; Employer of the Year Award; Outstanding Achievement Award; Customer Experience Award; Corporate Deal of the Year; Family Business of the Year; Start-up Business of the Year; Fast-Track Business of the Year; and Entrepreneur of the Year.

The awards are free to enter, with a transparent, independent judging process. Entries open on March 1 and close on June 30.

The Award Ceremony will take place at the Glazing Summit’s evening Leaders’ Dinner in the Edgbaston Banqueting Suite, with the industry’s most influential and visionary leaders attending the gala dinner.

As always, the Glazing Summit will feature plenty of networking opportunities throughout the day, including the Leaders’ Dinner.

And this year, the industry will have the chance to meet up early at Glazing Summit Networking (GSN), an informal, new event with drinks and canapes, which will take place in Birmingham in May.

“While we want the Glazing Summit to drive discussion on the future of the industry, we also understand that networking is vital,” Andrew said.

“The Glazing Summit attracts companies from across the whole glass and glazing sector, including installers, fabricators and suppliers, so there is a great chance to connect with new customers.”

Last year saw 22 sponsors partner with the event, and some big names have already come on board for this year.

The GGF has been announced as headline sponsor for a second year running, while Unique Window Systems is sponsoring the Leaders’ Dinner.

Reynaers, Edgetech and CAB have also confirmed they are backing the event again, alongside Carl F Groupco, while ODL will be sponsoring the Champagne Reception.
