Madness tops the bill

The Glazerite UK Group has hosted its annual charity race night at Newmarket Racecourse.

Customers and suppliers joined employees from Glazerite for an afternoon of racing, followed by dinner and evening entertainment courtesy of legendary ska band, Madness.

Glazerite’s guests raised more than £1,300 for the charity We Mind and Kelly Matters, which was founded this year by Glazerite Chairman, John Hewitt, in memory of his late daughter, Kelly.

Jason Thompson, group managing director for Glazerite, said: “It was a terrific night with a few lucky winners among our customers and suppliers. The biggest winner on the night though was the charity, We Mind and Kelly Matters, which John set up to help break down the stigma around mental health.

“We were delighted to have been joined on what was a very enjoyable evening by so many of our customers and suppliers and we’re very grateful to them all to have raised so much for the charity.

“We also had a superb gesture from Paul Sullivan from Anglo European who has agreed to support the charity throughout 2019.”

A highlight of the night for Glazerite’s operations director, Ian Lloyd, was bumping into former jockey and 1981 Grand National winner, Bob Champion.

Ian said: “Our annual race night is something I always look forward to as it’s a great way for us to thank our customers for their loyalty. Meeting Bob rounded off a great night perfectly.”
