Going for growth

According the industry reports that have been published recently, the weather plays a greater part in the success of the construction industry than we would want to admit.

The snow in the earlier part of the year brought construction sites to a halt, while the more recent hot weather has allowed the industry to bounce back.

However, according to the FMB, despite the current sense of optimism there are storm clouds brewing on the horizon – small construction firms in particular could lose out if we lose access to skilled EU workers.

However, to weather any storm, preparation is key, which is why (as one example) understanding what effect the private rented sector has on the housing market could help when winning future contracts.
