G24s beckon but big name on the brink

The 2024 G Awards are nearly upon us, with a little over 48-hours to go until this year’s finalists arrive at the Hilton Park Lane.
The G Awards are always a special occasion, but the G24s will be a particularly memorable night as they will mark 20 years since the event was launched and recognise two decades of excellence and outstanding innovation.
The market has changed quite a bit in that time. But the industry has constantly evolved to match it, and that’s a testament to the vast wealth of talent that is present across the entire supply chain, from system companies to installers and everyone in between.
And while it is often the ‘blue ribbon’ awards that garner the most attention at the awards, for best product, installer or fabricator, I would argue that it is the winners of the Rising Star and Unsung Hero categories that should perhaps be held in the highest regard.
People are at the heart of the industry after all, and some of the super stars that have been nominated for the 2024 G Awards really do deserve the very highest recognition.
From behalf of everyone at Glass Times magazine, I’d like to wish all the finalists the very best of luck!
While the G Awards will be a fantastic night of celebrations for many, sombre news has also reached my desk of a major industry name on the brink of collapse this week.
If the rumours are true, then the shockwaves will no doubt be felt up and down the supply chain. More importantly, it will also be a huge blow to a significant number of employees and their families just before Christmas.
And against the backdrop of the G24s, and all the success that the awards represent, it also serves to highlight the challenges facing many companies this year and into 2025.
