New hardware

Mila has partnered with hardware manufacturer Axor to bring a new range of tilt and turn hardware to the UK market.

Suitable for windows up to 1,520mm wide and 2,390mm high, the new range gives fabricators a cost-effective alternative to the Siegenia tilt and turn hardware already available from Mila.

Managing director Richard Gyde said: “The tilt and turn market is small but significant, particularly in the social housing sector and in the south of England and Scotland, where the housing stock tends to favour this style of window, but it has become increasingly price sensitive in recent years.

“Customers operating in this market have asked us to help them reduce their costs and we responded by identifying a new supplier in Axor and bringing their tilt and turn hardware range to the UK for the first time.

“So confident are we of the quality and durability of this new range, that we are offering a 10-year mechanical operation guarantee on the entire range, way beyond the one-year guarantee which is currently offered as the norm.”

The new Axor products from Mila are manufactured in a purpose-built factory in Ukraine which has full ISO9001 quality accreditation. They have been fully tested and accredited to all the necessary UK endurance and corrosion standards at Europe’s largest test facility – IFT Rosenheim in Germany.

In the UK, the range has also been PAS24 security tested at Mila’s own Ukas-accredited test centre and is both Approved Document Q and Secured by Design compliant, the company said.

The Axor range has several notable design features, including heavy duty hinges with a weight capacity of 130kg as standard and a mis-handling device which prevents the handle from being operated when the window is in the tilt position, as well as acting as a sash lifter to ensure precision engagement of the sash when closing. There is also a simple but effective latch that prevents the window from slamming shut in the wind.
