Factory to showroom

Wilson Windows has turned its old factory into a showroom after deciding to buy in frames from Glazerite.

Owner Dale Wilson said: “There are so many great-looking products from Glazerite and they have been really supportive in providing all the display pieces we needed. So, at first, we took a corner of the factory and doubled our 500ft2 showroom to show them off at their best. But we soon outgrew even that so now we have taken most of what’s left of the factory and doubled the showroom again. And now, to be honest, we could already use even more space.”

Wilson Windows had been manufacturing its own frames since it was founded by Dale’s father Mick in 1989. Now, it is one of a string of growing installers that have shut the factory and gone over to Glazerite.

The company joined the Veka Approved Installer Scheme, then joined the elite Network Veka and was very soon rewarded with the Best Newcomer trophy in the organisation’s annual awards.

Glazerite’s director Jason Thompson said: “We have supported many customers in shutting their factories – and would encourage many other fabricator/installers to think about doing the same – so it’s especially rewarding to see a company not only benefitting from the decision but making very good use of the redundant factory space in the bargain.”
