Meet the next generation

Chantel Roach, sales and marketing director at Distinction Doors, talks about the company’s nxt-generation door.

We are delighted to have played a significant part in the success of the composite door; we were one of the first companies to introduce them to this country and we’re still at the top over 10 years later. We want to maintain our status as the company that delivers leading edge products that move the both market and our customers’ businesses forward.

These were the factors behind our nxt-gen range of composite doors.

Our nxt-generation range takes everything that’s great about our current signature door and moves it to the next level. It means enhanced benefits for homeowners, fabricators and installers.

We recently launched the nxt-gen door to our customers and the response was everything we hoped for: fabricators could see the ground-breaking advantages the door would give their businesses by helping to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Nxt-gen doors have clinical sightlines thanks to glazing apertures that line up perfectly with the depression mouldings. The glazing system sits flush within its frame and has an internal glass retention bead to create a sleek finish. But while making these tweaks to the design, we’ve also kept the oak tree grain timber effect. The nxt-gen range is available in six styles and seven standard colours (white, red, blue, black, green, chartwell and anthracite grey) with bespoke colour available on an extended lead time.

We’ve also retained thermal performance, and developments on the polymer rails and stiles mean the risk of water ingress has been reduced by 50%. Acoustic performance is still exceptional with a weighted reduction of 31 decibels that helps to keep the noise outside at bay.

The pre-pigmented external and internal high impact resistant GRP skins mean long-lasting, low maintenance durability and good looks. The strength of these benefits is reflected in the 10-year manufacturer’s surface warranty and 25-year manufacturer’s structural warranty. And security is assured because the door is PAS24: 2016 compliant as standard.

We’ve also made composite doors better to fabricate and better to fit too.

Nxt-gen doors are, on average, two minutes quicker to machine than our current signature door thanks to consistent letterplate positioning across all six styles, which also means an increased tooling yield and lower power consumption, helping to reduce production costs.

The door blanks are available in three trimmable sizes (914mm, 838mm and 762mm) which means less waste and therefore lower waste handling and disposal costs.

Nxt-gen doors use the same Distinction Glass triple glazed, laminated units as our current signature door, so they’re easy to add to your set up. However, because the doors have an integral preformed glazing system they are significantly quicker to glaze and deglaze. They also feature a pre-fitted one piece internal glass retention bead which offers two advantages: there’s a significant saving on glazing consumables; and it means it’s less susceptible to damage because it does not project beyond the skin.

The nxt-gen door range is the result of the knowledge that complacency is the enemy of progress, and it is ready to order now.
