Aluminium made easy

Paul Bailey, managing director at Pyramid Aluminium, explains how the company is making it easier for installers to reap the benefits of choosing aluminium doors and windows.

The strong profile and impressive aesthetics of aluminium has meant it has always been an exceptional material for both doors and windows.

But the development of thermal break technology in the early 2000s transformed it into a true rival for PVC-U in terms of energy efficiency and thermal performance. Aluminium products now make a marked difference on the style, comfort and efficiency of people’s living spaces.

It’s not only homeowners who benefit though, there are so many reasons for installers to choose aluminium too. Adding a quality aluminium range to your product portfolio means you can benefit from happy customers and secure the bigger, more profitable projects.

So, what are the market options? When we began manufacturing aluminium products, we had the opportunity to create our own Purelight system of doors and windows. Developing our own system gave us much more flexibility over the design of the product and this meant we could do things differently and by working in collaboration with the people installing them, we could deliver a product that solved problems and made life easier on site.

Too often in our industry, installers are neglected in the manufacturing process. We believe they shouldn’t just be used as a vehicle to get our products into homes, and we know they have valuable insight which can be used to help us improve the quality of our windows and doors.

That’s why and how the Purelight system was born. We spoke to customers and got direct feedback about the challenges they face with aluminium and manufactured our products off the back of that to create a system that’s easy for them to make the most of the benefits on offer.

Easy to fit

Despite the increase in popularity, many installers who have traditionally only fitted PVC-U have been hesitant to go into the aluminium market. Part of this is down to the fact that installers are used to the fast lead times, easy installation and familiarity of PVC-U products.

With Purelight, we’ve removed the uncertainty that installers have and given them the confidence they need to take advantage of the benefits of aluminium. There are a range of features on our products which are designed to simplify their lives.

Firstly, the easy click glazing bead makes glazing much quicker and straightforward and brings the benefits of PVC-U easy beading. On top of this, all our doors are vertically assembled before delivery for inspection and testing to not only give peace of mind, but also to save valuable time on site.

Easy to sell

As well as making our windows and doors easy to fit, we also wanted to make sure that they were genuinely impressive products which enhance properties. Creating slim profiles is one of the most effective ways to transform living spaces.

We wanted to ensure that all our products were made with slim frames to make them easier to sell for installers. Our new SlimFold bi-fold door has 100mm sightlines to maximise the glazed area.

Thermally, Purelight also gives both homeowners and installers complete peace of mind by meeting upcoming changes to the Building Regulations, as well as reducing household bills significantly, making them much easier to sell as a solution to rising energy costs.

Our Purelight range makes aluminium windows and doors easy. Having made aluminium products for so long, we understand the benefits they provide, which is why we’ve made an easy-to-use system to help installers gain the confidence they need to make the most of these impressive products. All of this can be found in our new Purelight retail brochure, available to download from our website.
