Top marks for student installation

K2 Aluminium Systems and fabricator The Glazerite UK Group have worked together on a commercial project aimed at rejuvenating an area of Liverpool.

The window installation at Phoenix Place, two purpose-built blocks of student accommodation, is part of a £multi-million redevelopment project in the heart of the city.

Commissioned by contractor Nobles Construction, the rendered apartments have been given a contemporary edge thanks to the installation by K2 of grey on white PVCU windows. Using Veka M70 triple-glazed casement windows fabricated by Glazerite at its Bolton site, the team from Birkenhead-based K2 installed 744 frames over an eight-week period.

Liam Bird, commercial manager for K2, said: “The building has increased insulation on it so a 225mm sill was required, which Glazerite catered for. Though the grey used makes the windows look like aluminium, PVCU was specified because of its thermal properties.”
