Second fire glass facility opened

Pyroguard, specialist manufacturer of fire safety glass, has opened a second facility in the UK.

In a presentation to customers and the local MP Conor McGinn, chief executive Neil Tilsley acknowledged that demand for Pyroguard’s products had increased dramatically in the last three to five years.

The new facility is dedicated to Pyroguard’s toughened range of fire safety glass products and now enables the group to manufacture and supply its entire portfolio of both cuttable and toughened products to the UK and Irish market directly from the UK.

With reduced lead times, specifiers, contractors and fabricators will now have the ability to access their complete fire-rated glass requirements from a single source.

Pyroguard said the investment highlights Pyroguard’s confidence in the strength of the British market and underpins an ongoing commitment to the UK construction industry, by continuing to manufacture and supply fire safety glass solutions that meet the ever-tightening fire safety legislative requirements.

“The opening of our new facility is a significant investment for us and, alongside the benefits it brings for our customers, it also demonstrates our commitment to manufacturing for the surrounding local area and the UK,” Neil said. “That has meant increasing the size of our existing team, as well as providing the necessary training to ensure we can provide and maintain the service levels, quality and craftsmanship our customers have come to expect.”

In opening its new facility, Pyroguard has replicated the set-up of its largest facility for toughened fire safety glass in France to deliver an enhanced service for customers in the UK. This includes directly transferring the skills and practices which have been developed in the French facility, where Pyroguard’s toughened range of products have been successfully manufactured and supplied all over Europe for more than 15 years.

Conor McGinn MP said: “This is a very good day. This is not just about our heritage – of which we are proud – but also about our future.”
