Open for business

After a positive first month of trading, UPVC Maintenance Supplies was joined by Gateshead’s deputy mayor, who officially opened its newest branch.

Councillor Jill Green cut the ribbon at the new premises on Team Valley Trading Estate in Gateshead.

“We have a number of long-standing and loyal customers in the north east; opening a branch in their area further cements our commitment to those relationships and we’re well on the way to developing new relationships as we’ve a lot to offer the marketplace,” owner and managing director David Earnshaw said.

Branch manager Michael Savage said: “There are a number of people who’ve been in several times already – and the word is certainly being spread around on our behalf.”

The three branches are supported by a hard copy catalogue and a website. However, the company believes it is the branches that really respond to customer demand.

“The ability for customers to come in wielding the broken or damaged part and be able to rely on our staff to provide the correct replacement is a key feature of our service,” David said. “The fact that in virtually every case they get it there and then is an added bonus. It also means we are well-placed to help the retail market; DIY is part of our culture here in Britain and we’re happy to offer guidance. We’re not just a trade supplier, we often supply members of the public as well.”
