Lock safe action

The Cubelock Triple Lock window safety restrictor from Newstar Door Controls is now available to fabricators and installers.

Toby Staff, managing director at Newstar Door Controls, said: “What makes it so innovative is that if attacked it goes into lock safe action, so should the lock fail it will fail locked rather than open. This means that if it’s been tampered with from the inside, the person inside remains safe, and if it’s attacked from the outside, an intruder or burglar won’t be able to gain access through the window.”

Cubelock Triple Lock was initially designed as a specific response to the NHS Estates and Facilities alert in 2013 as it addresses the significant risk of falling from windows plus unsupervised egress. Since then, Cubelock Triple Lock has been chosen to solve problems of abuse, damage and escape that can occur in secure units.

“Today, it’s available to be installed on all windows,” Toby said. “The restrictor unit can be installed vertically or horizontally and is suitable for PVCU, timber, aluminium or steel windows. Cubelock Triple Lock includes a super strong locking bar and the distinctive cube design gives it an attractive finish.

“The importance of window restrictors can’t be underestimated; we know from working in the commercial sector, just how vital it can be. That’s why we wanted to make it easily available to fabricators and installers to help us bring Cubelock Triple Lock’s top levels of safety and security into the domestic market.”
