Brighter buildings

3M’s master distributor of window films, William Smith Group 1832, is expanding its portfolio with 3M’s new Daylight Redirecting film.

3M Daylight Redirecting Film uses micro-structured prisms to optimise natural light in buildings by redirecting it deeper into the room.

The company said that directing light towards the ceiling and deeper into buildings, the window film provides benefits, including energy cost savings by reducing the need for artificial light.

The film is applied to the top strip of a window to manage light with its micro-structured prisms, helping to optically redirect more than 80% of the daylight upward. It also diffuses light to be more evenly distributed.

The film can be integrated into new or existing windows, as it requires no extra hardware or infrastructure, and requires little to no additional maintenance or special cleaning.
