25 years celebrated

Aluk celebrated its 25th anniversary in the UK at the FIT Show, with a party, a birthday cake and a £10,000 competition.

The 1990s themed party, with an appropriately retro playlist, gave visitors to the stand on late night Tuesday the opportunity to share their memories of Aluk over the years and to toast its exciting future.

A specially commissioned video charted the history of the company – from the point when it was founded in 1994 on the Elvicta Trading Estate in Crickhowell in South Wales, to its current status as a £40 million plus turnover business.

As he cut the birthday cake, Aluk’s managing director Russell Yates said: “Time and again, we’ve shown our ability to innovate and our commitment to keep on investing in the business so that we continue to lead the way in everything from service and quality, to training and customer support.”

Richard Barrett from Charterhouse Windows won the competition – a first order up to the value of £10,000.

Aluk revealed details of its brand new 70mm window system at the FIT Show, complete with pre-inserted gaskets.

“The Aluk C70S will be pitched directly at the mid-rise commercial market where there is still plenty of potential for growth in aluminium,” Russell said. “It is the new big brother of our iconic 58BW window system and incorporates everything which we know fabricators and installers love about the 58 – but with even faster, simpler fabrication and much improved performance.”

Thermal performance of the C70S is between 1.0W/m2K and 1.3W/m2K, a 50mm glazing option allows for improved acoustics and a max sash weight of 150kg for tilt before turn windows, and wind and water tightness levels are class leading, even with large span window openings the company said.

Aluk also previewed a new slim sliding door at the FIT Show; the Luminia S119LM will sit between its Optio BSC94 and Luminia SC156 sliding doors, giving customers a cost effective new option for all those applications where slim sightlines are the primary consideration.

The new door measures just 20mm at the interlock, has a concealed outerframe and can go up to 3,500mm in height.

Aluk told visitors to FIT that the Luminia S119LM is ideal for both new build and renovation projects, maximising light into homes and providing almost unrestricted views.

In terms of performance, the SL119LM achieves a U-value of 1.3W/m2K and can accommodate sashes up to 320kg in with maximum glass thickness of 35.5mm.
