Something to look up to

With 90% of a rooflight comprising the glass, it makes sense to buy from a glass expert, according to Graham Price of TuffX.

With names such as Next Retail, Arsenal Football Club, Marks and Spencer, Edinburgh Zoo, and that monument to architectural glazing The Shard included in our client list, it’s fair to assume that TuffX Processed Glass knows a thing or two about glass.

And, with a reputation for enabling the creativity of some the world’s leading architects and interior designers through our glass processing skills, it would be safe to assume that our range of rooflights is also pretty good.

We have a reputation for high quality and being able to undertake difficult commissions for architects and building designers that have defeated other processors. And I believe that is because we love the challenge of overcoming technical obstacles in working with glass.

As part of that we have working practices that have been established in the company for many years, which ensure that we have one standard of production quality. It would not make any sense to have different quality standards for different markets.

We have not manufactured standard IGUs for the mass market for many years. In fact, the decision was taken more than a decade ago to specialise in innovative glass solutions, including large-span conservatory glass, balustrades, architectural partitioning, staircases and other bespoke applications. And now rooflights, for a range of installations.

Our Infinity fixed flat glass rooflight is available as double or triple glazed, while the thermal walk-on rooflight has been designed to be fitted either internally or externally, making it the ideal choice for basement conversions or roof terraces. We also manufacture fire-rated versions.

All Infinity rooflights are available in either standard or bespoke sizes, in a range of glass finishes and glazed into a powder-coated aluminium frame as a complete unit, ready for installers to drop in and secure into place hassle-free.

Our Infinity rooflights offer a fantastic opportunity for installers to add an attractive, high-value and hassle-free addition to their portfolio. But they must be confident that the products they offer as their own will perform just as their customers expect. When we are producing products that promise higher performance and great aesthetics then they have to be right, and first time. And for that we need the very best equipment and people to produce them.

We have spent more than £2 million in the past three years alone on the equipment and systems at our factory to ensure total quality and performance in everything we offer. We also employ a skilled workforce across all departments, which allows us to accurately process ever more frequent deliveries, and at pace. And even our delivery fleet has evolved in line with our product catalogue and changes to our customer profile.

The mindset at TuffX is one of continuous innovation, seeking out new ideas and, importantly, using new flat glass technologies as well as applications for flat glass. For example, we are using our Glow heated glass technology to produce glass floors and ceilings, including roof lights. Many may become a heat source. We don’t believe anyone else can do that.

Now that is something to look up to.
