Greg Hawksworth, leading product designer in Ultraframe’s hup! team, has designed and built his own hup! extension – receiving plenty of praise from the brand’s ambassador, Laura Jane Clark.
Laura Jane Clark, a leading architect and interior designer, as well as a presenter of the BBC’s ‘Your Home Made Perfect’, is the brand ambassador for Ultraframe’s hup! building system.
She commented: “What is really interesting about the hup! system is that it is completely bespoke to what the homeowner needs, and it is a very quick way of getting a perfect extension watertight in a few days – I mean it is just unparalleled.”
Using the system he helped to design, Greg has built a ground floor extension at his own home, creating a new kitchen and living area and invited Laura Jane Clark along to see how it has enhanced his property.
Despite deciding to have this constructed mid-winter and extremely close to Christmas, it is said to have taken only five days to complete the structure, which included a large, tiled roof.
“The weather was awful,” said Greg. “It rained solidly for three days from morning to evening, so they worked in the rain but thanks to the hup! system it didn’t stop progress at all. To be watertight on day four was fantastic.”
Laura commented: “It is such an exciting system because not only is it really quick to build and to install, but it is also really flexible. No matter what you design, no matter how your home is at the moment, hup! will work with you and you can create something completely unique to what you need.”
The flow of light and practicality are said to be key to Laura’s home renovation style, both of which were delivered with Greg’s hup! project: “I really love these long strip skylights because it just adds something special, and it draws your eye to the garden, it brings it all together.
“You have got the seating under these lovely sky lights, so the whole place is flooded with light and space, and you can see the garden when you enter the house.”
Using hup!, Greg created a living area with a media wall, a family dining area, a spectacular kitchen and also a utility area thanks to the extra space from hup!’s thin, but ultra thermally efficient walls.
Greg says he designed the new space to make a ‘big difference to the way his family live their lives’ and adds that this can be achieved ‘every time’ with the hup! technology.
Laura commented: “It is so wonderfully put together, absolutely everything has been thought about from the engineering side of it, to how to get plastered and finished – everything has been thought about.”
According to Ultraframe, getting started with hup! is easy and it can provide training days that allow builders and installers to develop their knowledge before selling, specifying and installing the system as well as provide support on site when installing hup! for the first time.
