Green – the colour of money

Would you pay a premium for products that are more sustainable? And would you be prepared to fork out extra for ‘green’ windows and doors?

A new independent survey by Deceuninck UK has revealed that 68% of consumers would choose windows and doors with a higher recycled content and 38% would pay more for the privilege.

If your mindset is that you should pay less for recycled PVC products – because they are somehow inferior or ‘second-hand’ – then you need to think again.

Leading system companies have invested millions into recycling PVC (Deceuninck has spent €15million on its world class facility) and homeowners are now highly incentivised to invest in the end result.

It won’t be for everyone. There will always be a sizeable proportion of property owners who are driven by price, who will just want new windows that are secure and energy efficient.

But now that we are emerging from the pandemic, we are seeing renewed momentum for the Green Agenda.

That includes higher-earning, cash rich consumers who want to be seen to be green, but organisations will also be expected to operate more sustainably from now on. Partnering with a supplier with proven green credentials, is an important first step to achieving that.
