Public service award

The modernisation of Glan Clwyd Hospital has won the Best Public Service Building award at the annual North Wales Building Excellence Awards.

The award recognises any new building used for health, leisure, sports, tourism, defence, transport, prisons etc, and includes extensions, new builds and refurbishments.

Glan Clwyd Hospital was project managed by Gleeds and delivered by Laing O’Rourke, with Bennett Architectural supplying and installing Kawneer aluminium doors, windows and curtain walling for numerous parts of the project, which was started in 2011 and completed in 2017.

Lionel Grant, managing director at Bennett Architectural, said: “This was a long term project across six years for ourselves and Laing O’Rourke and it’s great to see that it’s being recognised within the industry.”

Glan Clwyd will now be shortlisted for Best Public Service Building for the national awards ceremony which takes place in London in November.
