New sustainable London multi-faith school

Dudley’s Aluminium has made considerable progress on a relocation project with BAM Construction, supporting the construction of the new Nishkam School building, in the London borough of Hounslow.

Dudley’s secured the £600,000 contract to install key structural fixtures at the site, including Kawneer Series AA100 capped curtain walling, Kawneer Series AA540 standard and fire-rated windows, Kawneer Series 720 manual doors; and automatic entrance doors.

The Welsh aluminium company will also install energy efficient louvres and high performance solar control glazing, minimising the need for an air-conditioning system.

The Nishkam School, a Sikh ethos and multi faith school, is currently based out of an office block in Isleworth, with its relocation to the new Hounslow building scheduled for this autumn upon the projects anticipated completion.

Providing places for 1400 pupils, the all-through school and sixth form will be housed over two and three storeys, along with a four-court sports hall, two dining halls and main assembly hall.

Plans also include a central faith area and multi-use games area and grass pitches, and a solar array on the roof of the structure to ensure the building meets the requirements of the London Plan.

Managing director Colin Shorney said: “The Nishkam School relocation is a very exciting project for the local community and we are delighted to be part of it. We hope the new building will showcase our expertise and leave a long-lasting legacy for the school.

“We believe in the value of sustainable construction, and we are proud that our work enables the new school building to meet the energy efficiency requirements of the London Plan, while providing local children with a state-of-the-art learning environment.”
