Underpinning home security

Will Butler, group marketing and innovation director at ERA, explains what visitors to the company’s stand can expect to see.

It is a big commitment for us to exhibit at the FIT show and not a decision taken lightly.

There are several factors to take into account, such as the return on our investment, the time required to make all the requisite arrangements, and the time to attend. For those at ERA most closely connected to the exhibition, it certainly does take up a considerable portion of their working lives for several weeks.

One of the main reasons for attending the show is that it is a perfect opportunity for us to connect in person with our existing and potential customers. The show is invaluable from the point of view of being able to showcase new products and service innovations, but it is also the ideal opportunity to listen to fabricators and installers very carefully and find out first-hand how we can help them to grow their business. This is why we took the decision to attend again this year.

Our diverse product portfolio means that we can offer fabricators and installers core ranges and premium upgrade options. This provides them with competitive differentiation and the ability to offer the choices that modern end-consumers demand.

To help clearly illustrate this point, our stand been segmented into zones, each focused on a particular product type. One of the zones is smart ware, and we’ll be demonstrating how our ranges give installers a great upsell opportunity. Reinforcing the idea of choice, we’ll be showcasing everything from entry level systems right through to fully cloud connected products.

ERA also provides a full aftercare service through our dedicated smart ware helpline, so installers can fit with confidence and leave homeowners with complete peace of mind.

The diversity of visitors to FIT seems to grow every year. We’re really looking forward to meeting people with a broad range of perspectives on the industry and identifying ways we can help to add value to their businesses.

ERA will be using the show to demonstrate how it continues to drive the innovation that underpins home security. Visitors will be able to see the company’s full range of hardware and smart ware products, including new product developments, all backed up by practical advice and wider customer support to help fabricators and installers grow their business. There will also be an opportunity to find out about how to sign up to a new installer scheme just introduced by the company.

One of the key areas of the stand will be used to showcase ERA’s smart ware solutions including the HomeGuard Pro alarm, a high specification cloud-based alert and monitoring alarm system, the first of its kind to combine security with smart living.

Using a smartphone app, the HomeGuard Pro offers real time alerts, the ability to protect multiple locations, such as a house, office or holiday home, all accessible any time, anywhere.

Likewise, ERA’s WiFi video doorbell, DoorCam, allows homeowners to view all callers and talk to them in real time, whether they are home or not. Once DoorCam is wired in, the householder can simply plug in the WiFi chime that comes as standard, connecting up to four more chimes in the home, all as part of the package. This means a chime will sound in the house, with adjustable sound, volume and light function, eliminating the need to carry a Smartphone around. Both HomeGuard Pro and DoorCam will be demonstrated on the stand, and visitors will also be given the chance to try them out for themselves and learn how to install them with ease.

Elsewhere on the stand visitors will be able to see in operation ERA’s TouchKey, a keyless smart lock bringing to life a fully integrated suite of connected Smart Security Products. Working in combination with ERA’s SureFire lock, the TouchKey also offers a solution for multi-point locks on PVCU and composite doors. Developed to be secure and simple to use and easy to fit, SureFire delivers effortless multi-point locking: simply close the door to engage the trigger and turn a key to deadlock.

No FIT show would be complete without ERA’s broad range of Fab&Fix decorative hardware. The brand celebrates over 30 years of heritage. With three decades of real world testing and featuring truly matching products, it is no wonder that the brand has forged a durable loyalty with many fabricators, installers and their suppliers. With over 200 window and door products in the range, and up to ten different finishes, Fab&Fix is perfectly suited down to the last screw and offers unparalleled flexibility. This lack of restriction in suited style colour and breadth of range is unique in the market. The industry-renowned ‘Hardex’ surface finish technology is only available on the Fab&Fix range.
