Surveying has long been one of the glazing sectorβs most important processes, but for many businesses it is still heavily reliant on handwritten notes, paper forms and inconsistent ways of capturing information on-site.
Now, Thinkivity has officially launched SurveyPal, a new digital surveying platform designed specifically for the glazing industry, with the aim of reducing admin time, improving accuracy and helping businesses cut costly remakes.
Available as a web app, iOS app and Android app, SurveyPal allows surveyors to complete fully digital window and door surveys directly on-site, even when working offline in areas with poor mobile signal.
The platform has been designed to work seamlessly with DocChecker, but can also operate as a completely standalone solution for installers and retailers wanting to modernise their surveying process.
At its core, SurveyPal replaces handwritten surveys with structured digital workflows that ensure information is captured consistently and accurately across every job.
Companies can build their own survey templates, choosing exactly which fields surveyors must complete for each product type. That could include dimensions, colours, hardware, glass specification, vents, trims, cills or any other information the business requires.
Surveyors can also use built-in tools including photo capture, photo annotation and a sketchpad with a library of standard window and door layouts, allowing them to create clear visual records directly within the app.
Once complete, the survey is returned digitally to the office, removing the need for manual re-entry from handwritten paperwork. There is even a βpre-flight checkβ to make sure all necessary information has been captured.
The system also validates information against configurable company rules to help catch potential mistakes before products are ordered. This includes checks for inconsistencies such as mismatched frame finishes or missing trickle vents.
Survey data can then be exported as PDF, CSV or JSON files, with CSV outputs capable of being sent directly to fabricators.
When connected with DocChecker, the workflow becomes even more powerful.
DocChecker already checks individual documents and entire jobs for consistency and accuracy. SurveyPal extends that workflow by allowing quotes generated within DocChecker to be sent directly to the surveyor as a pre-populated digital survey.
The surveyor can then confirm or update details on-site before sending the completed survey back into the system, where changes can be compared against the original contract and later against order confirmations.
The result is a connected workflow that significantly reduces duplication of effort while improving accuracy throughout the order journey.
SurveyPal and DocChecker can also integrate via API with platforms including Business Pilot, helping glazing businesses connect surveying, sales and order processing into a more streamlined digital workflow.
Elton Boocock, founder of Thinkivity, said the product was created after seeing how much time glazing businesses still lose through unstructured survey processes.
βThe idea came from seeing how some surveys are just a series of notes, which have little structure and therefore canβt be mapped to structured quotes or order confirmations without manual entry,β said Elton.
βSurveyPal changes that.
βWe wanted to create something that was simple to use, but incredibly effective in solving a real industry problem. Surveyors can now capture everything digitally on-site, while office teams receive clean, structured and standardised information ready for processing.
βThat saves hours of admin time, improves consistency and helps reduce the kinds of mistakes that lead to costly remakes.β
SurveyPal focuses on practical usability and solving a genuine operational issue experienced daily across the glazing sector. It is available now at Β£60 per user, per month, and is included free for existing DocChecker users.
