Solution to draughty sash windows

Wooden window manufacturer, George Barnsdale, has invented a product that it claims solves the age-old problem of draughty sash windows.

Its patented seal is designed for vertical sash windows to offer the same airtight seal enjoyed by normal casement windows.

The connection between the parting bead and the meeting rail has always been a contributor to the slight draughts that sash windows are known for,” the company said. “Even the latest sashes have been unable to compete with casements when it comes to being air tight until now.”

Achieving the highest classification of EN1627 Part 1 for air permeability, George Barnsdale said the new product performs as efficiently as aluminium, plastic or timber casements.
