Smart thinking

Emplas’s new composite door range features a new leaf and Kubu smart sensor hardware as standard.

The new Emplas composite offer is built around a new slab, featuring a 4mm impact resistant fibreglass skin and a high-density polyurethane foam core, which combine to deliver U-values of between 0.9 W/m2K and 1.3W/m2K dependent on glazing. It also features a laminated veneer lumber (LVL) sub-frame, and the TriSYS three-piece dry glaze frame system, which eliminates screw hole plugs and can easily be re-glazed if the glass is damaged.

John Leary, sales and marketing director at Emplas, said: “Our new composite door range delivers a series of advantages, including improved thermal efficiency and security. The TriSYS system should also make remedial work far simpler as a dry-glaze and silicone-free system. Its real USP is, however, that we’re supplying it with the Kubu smart locking mechanism as standard. This gives our customers the ability to up-sell to ‘smart’ and build-in increased margin into their offer, or simply supply the door ‘as standard’.

Developed in partnership with Avantis, the Kubu lock is upgraded from a standard multi-point locking system to a smart technology through the optional insertion of a Kubu battery powered module and no wiring or additional work is required. This can then be linked by the end-user to their mobile or tablet, giving them full visibility of the status of their door in real-time through an app. Kubu also works with other smart devices including Alexa.
