Seal the deal

Visitors to the Sherwin Williams stand at this year’s FIT Show will be able to see live demonstrations of a new, fast cure, 1:1 mix ratio structural and weatherseal sealant, Dowsil 121 structural glazing sealant.

Also featured on display is Dowsil 3363 insulating glass sealant, a high performing , new high-strength silicone sealant engineered specifically for economic and energy efficient designs in demanding IG facades.

With a fast cure and 1:1 mix ratio, Dowsil 121 structural glazing sealant answers the challenges faced by facade contractors and manufacturers with slow-curing, one-part sealants, mixing challenges of multipart sealants, and limited movement capability of tapes.

The real advantage of using Dowsil 121, the company said, is its fast cure times: just one day (24 hours) compared with 14-21 days for single-part sealants. Dowsil 121 also reportedly outperforms organic weatherseals and structural tapes.

Dowsil 3363 is a new generation high-strength silicone sealant that has been developed to offer an economic and energy efficient joint solutions in demanding insulating glass facades. Engineered specifically for use as a secondary seal for double and triple air and gas-filled glazed insulating glass, where high strength and economical joint sizes are required, Dowsil 3363 is an effective alternative to lower-strength conventional sealants that often require significantly larger joint sizes that can impact efficiency, productivity and in particular aesthetics, the company said.
