New machine helps double capacity
Complete Aluminium Systems, which manufactures the full range of Aluk products including bifolds and sliding patios, has invested in a high volume, high performance Comet T6HP machining centre from Emmegi (UK).
The Farnborough based trade fabricator, which last year was selected as an Aluk Luminia Select Partner, has chosen the machine so that it can double its capacity and keep pace with its growth plans.
Since it was established five years ago by Steve Austin and Matt Hepburn, Complete Aluminium has grown without any active marketing. Now, it needs to increase output by around 70% and allow for further growth over the coming months.
Complete Aluminium had invested in an Emmegi Comet Isola machining centre shortly after it started manufacturing, and this was followed by an Emmegi Classic Saw a couple of years ago. The performance of these machines and the quality of the service and back up which the team have received from Emmegi (UK) means that Steve and Matt had no hesitation in approaching the company again when they were looking to expand, they said.
Emmegi (UK)’s sales manager Andrew Jones recommended the Comet T6HP, which was centre stage on the company’s stand at last year’s FIT Show, because it could offer all the capacity that Complete Aluminium needed with the advantage of full soundproofing in what is a very busy 12,500ft2 factory.
The Comet T6HP is a four-axis machining centre with a work area for bars of up to 7.7m, perfect for fabricating curtain walling or even the largest contemporary bifolds. It also has the flexibility to allow for two separate work areas so that shorter bars can be loaded on one side while machining on the other.
Complete Aluminium’s factory manager Sam Hepburn said: “We’re saving time on machining thanks to the increased travel speed on the axis, and we’re saving on the tool changeover because tool storage is integrated into the X axis with automatic assist functions on the front.
“We considered several other long bed machines before we settled on the Comet T6HP and it has definitely proved the right choice. The installation from Emmegi was fast and straightforward and the support and service we’ve received all the way along has been excellent.”
