New dimension

The UK premiere of Skai Woodec at the FIT Show in Birmingham was special, according to manufacturer Continental.

The new foil was not only presented at the Continental stand, but also on windows and doors at partner stands.

Dominik Doerr, senior sales manager at Continental, said: “Especially with the new corner welding, which perfectly imitates the butt joint of a wooden window, a window coated with Skai Woodec is virtually indistinguishable from a window made of real wood – even for a professional.

“For customers in the UK, Skai Woodec is very attractive because – depending on the colour scheme – Skai Woodec suits the British heritage window style with its lattice windows and black fittings, as well as the modern, urban architecture in which shades of grey dominate.”

Other topics of the conversations held at the stand were the excellent easy-cleaning properties of the new Skai Woodec range due to the PVDF coating and the ‘cool colors’ technology with which every Skai Woodec window is equipped.

Continental uses three newly developed wood decors for the new product Skai Woodec. In addition to Skai Turner Oak Malt, these are Skai Sheffield Oak Alpine and Sheffield Oak Concrete – two further modern, limed oak decors in white and grey.

Cool colors results in a reduction in the heat build-up in intense sunlight. Special pigments reduce the thermal effect of near-infrared solar radiation by up to 80%. Thanks to the patented Skai cool colors technology, the majority of this radiation does not penetrate into the profile, but is reflected by the surface. The heat absorption in the profile is noticeably lower, with the heating of the surface being reduced by 20% or more. The surface remains ‘cool’ and the window dimensionally stable.
