New aluminium range

Prefix has launched Opal, its new aluminium brand designed to meet the growing demand for aluminium windows and doors.

“Creating a brand for aluminium was important to allow us to stand out in a growing and competitive market,” Prefix’s Chris Baron said.

Featuring slim, thermally broken profiles, Opal Heritage windows are available in a number of formats, including fixed-pane, sash, top-hung and side-hung casement, pivot and tilt and turn. These different options may be installed in a combination of horizontal modules, which are stacked using coupling options to form a multi-part window.

Suitable for both single and double door application, Opal Heritage balcony doors are available in a wide range of sizes and are supplied with a multi-point lock mechanism as well as face-mounted finger thrown locking bolts. Both the window and door systems deliver a U-value of 1.5W/m²K, when installed with a suitable sealed unit, and are available in either single or dual polyester powder coated finishes.

Prefix’s Heritage range of windows, doors and bifolding doors provide a modern, like-for-like replacement for traditional materials and is the ideal solution for projects where planning or design demands dictate the installation of sympathetic materials, the company said.

The Heritage door and window ranges both feature the slim profiles and sight lines that are associated with traditional steel doors and windows with sightlines of just 59mm and a frame depth of 47mm. However, the system’s timeless elegance is also accompanied by the outstanding thermal performance of a modern aluminium system.

The Opal Deluxe bifolds are also available as a Heritage option with a 18mm slimline bar (a back-to-back spacer with 18mm bar appearance).

“Our Heritage range offers a modern aluminium replacement for heritage steel windows and doors,” Chris said. “The ultra-slim framework is ideal for fitting between stone mullions, it can achieve a WER of A, and yet it is a fraction of the cost of steel.

“It is no surprise, therefore, that it is an approved replacement for listed buildings by many council authorities.”

Furthermore, thanks to Prefix’s new online offering, customers can now design their aluminium bifolding doors online and get an instant price.

“Both our aluminium bifold systems are available for online pricing: Definitive and our premium range Deluxe,” Chris said.

“Having an online pricing portal was important to us as we look to improve our online services with companies using the web more so than ever. Pricing online gives our trade customers the freedom to design the systems as they wish perhaps even with homeowners so they can have full control over their project. You can also use the online pricing app for our other products too including the Opal Rooflight and Ultrasky lantern, and eventually our roofing systems.”
