SheerGlide, the new inline patio from Sheerline, is now available with an enhanced security upgrade. The patio has achieved PAS 24 accreditation, which is offered as standard on all Sheerline products, however, homeowners can now request a Secured by Design (SBD) upgrade.
The rigorous testing process saw the inline patio subjected to physical security testing, a manual attack to check for weak spots, and mechanical load testing. The aim is to assess the product as a whole while also focusing on specific component parts.
SheerGlide features innovations that include TwinLock, which is said to be the first single component interlock, combining both security and thermal efficiency. It’s strong and fully thermally broken, and at 38mm, is designed to maintain a slim aesthetic.
Additionally, it’s non-bonded to make it easier to manufacture, transport, and install. Other security features including the modular ‘quad’ hooklock provided by Ingenious Locks & Hardware. This true PAS 24 lock is said to deliver ‘exceptional’ levels of reliable security and operation.
Ben Hartshorn, Sheerline’s technical and design director, said:
“When people see SheerGlide, they see a stylish sliding patio door. But what they don’t see is the months of development and refinement that went into it. Being able to offer enhanced security as standard alongside an optional upgrade is a testament to our commitment to security.
“We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved and we’re already working on the next stage of development – watch this space for updates,” he added.
SheerGlide is also designed to make life easier for fabricators and installers and is available in bar length or as a time-saving kit requiring just three decisions.
