Glazerite’s sales and marketing director Jeff Dunn explores the appeal of the Kubu smart lock.
Homeowners are increasingly tech-savvy, so when a product like the smart lock from Kubu comes long, it’s easy to see why it’s being snapped up by security-conscious homeowners.
To meet consumer demand for innovative products, the Glazerite UK Group now supplies every door equipped with the Avantis multi-point locking system. From there, it’s just a simple case of slotting the module into the door to transform it into the Kubu lock, which uses the latest smart door technology.

The Kubu smart lock and accompanying kit, which includes a sleek home hub device and corresponding app, allows homeowners to remotely check the status of their door and receive real-time notifications at every turn of the key. It’s even possible to set schedules and share doors with friends and family, and is accessible by the homeowner wherever they are in the world.

“Once a homeowner has had their Kubu-equipped door fitted, they’re able to buy their Smart Kit and link up to the Kubu app, as well as their Amazon Alexa or Google Home if they want voice updates too. If they leave their home with the door unlocked they’ll be sent a notification to their phone via the app to let them know.”
The homeowner can also access a ‘door history’ via the Kubu app, which gives a log of door lock activity, while the home hub glows blue when all the doors are locked, or orange if one or more Kubu-equipped doors are unlocked.
Burglary rates dropped during the recent UK-wide lockdown, but with many people now returning to work, homeowners’ attention will be once again turning to home security measures. Being able to check the status of doors is a definite draw, as our installer partners are finding out.
Glazerite installer Fred Doodey of Ecologic Windows recently fitted three Kubu-equipped doors in one week, with one customer saying: “It was very straightforward to do the set up – we’re ready to go. Our new front door looks very ‘smart’ – physically and technically.”
Meanwhile, Avantis has ensured it is supporting installers with its Kubu Pro website and a host of marketing materials such as imagery, videos, brochures, leaflets and displays for showrooms. This support means Glazerite’s installers can access all the guidance and information they need around the product and will help them to sell it their customers.
