Six awards

Velux has won ‘Marketing Team of the Year’ for its work on two campaigns that helped grow the share of the roof window market.

The Glenrothes-based company picked up the gong at the Marketing Society Star Awards held in Glasgow on June 8, along with a gold and two silver awards for its campaign to promote the benefits of its roof windows in single storey extensions to homeowners, installers and architects.

It also scooped a silver award for the successful launch and roll-out of its white-painted window range.

The Velux team took a further two gold awards at PRCA Scotland DARE, held in Edinburgh on the same night, for its extensions campaign. Both ceremonies celebrate the best in PR and marketing.

Jim Coates, commercial director of Velux, said: “The haul of awards was a true team effort. Not only did we successfully roll out a brand new product range of white-painted roof windows as standard, a bold move in a market dominated by pine for decades, but our single storey extensions campaign was launched at a time when Brexit had delivered a big knock to consumer confidence.

“By educating and inspiring homeowners on the benefits of adding Velux roof windows to their extension project, we increased demand within the market.”
