Rishton Glass and Windows has completed a transformative conservatory extension in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire, using Sheerline Bespoke’s S2 conservatory roof system to overcome structural challenges and deliver a high-performance, modern living space.

The project involved removing a small, conservatory featuring an ageing roof and PVC frames, replacing it with a much larger, hipped lean-to design in foil grey.

The new installation incorporates high-performance solar control roof glass and a double glazing bar with an integrated screen to conceal an internal partition wall, creating two distinct yet cohesive spaces.

Director, Steve Keenan, explained the brief:

β€œThis was for a regular customer who had bought the neighbouring cottage and wanted to extend both properties into one usable space, while keeping separate areas. The original conservatory was too small and wasn’t being used properly, so the aim was to create something bigger, brighter and far more practical and increase the roof pitch.”

Given the complexities of the property, including random stone walls, an out-of-square structure, a soil pipe and the requirement to increase the roof pitch, Rishton Glass turned to Sheerline Bespoke for expert survey support, with Chris Cooke, the commercial director, providing detailed survey assistance to ensure accuracy from the outset.

β€œOn projects like this, getting the survey right is everything,” said Steve. β€œChris came out, helped measure up and made sure we had a solution for every obstacle. His experience means we’ve yet to come across a job we can’t make work with his input.”

Rishton Glass has used the S2 system on previous installations, and Steve cites its simplicity and reliability as key advantages.

β€œThe S2 is very straightforward to install,” he said. β€œThe instructions are clear, and the detailed plans show exactly where everything goes. That makes a huge difference on site. If we ever need anything, it’s just a quick call or email to Chris and it’s sorted straight away.”

Thanks to the thorough preparation and installer-friendly design of the S2 system, the entire installation was completed in just four days by Steve and his team.

β€œThe speed of install was excellent, and that comes down to both the product and the support behind it,” Steve added. β€œThe customer was absolutely over the moon with the end result, and it’s completely transformed how they use the space.”

For Chris Cooke, the project highlights the importance of collaboration.

β€œThis was a complex property, but by working closely with Steve and his team from the survey stage, we were able to deliver a solution that met both the structural challenges and the homeowner’s vision. The finished result speaks for itself.”
