Recycling views wanted

Window installers are being asked to take part in an industry survey that will form the beginning of a major new sustainability campaign from Rehau.

The survey can be accessed at www.rehau.uk/national-recycling-week and aims to gain valuable insights that will enable change.

Over the coming year, Rehau is looking to raise awareness among homeowners with regards to the existence of window recycling and its benefits for the environment. This precedes a longer-term view to shifting behaviour and placing emphasis on the consumer to request recycled profiles.

According to a recent survey from Rated People, 57% of UK residents said they wanted to be more eco-friendly in 2021, whether that’s recycling more, eating less meat, or making home improvements to make their homes eco-friendlier or more energy-efficient.

However, according to Martin Hitchin, CEO of Rehau UK, there sometimes remains a disconnect between attitudes and action on this issue.

“Definite strides have been made towards creating a greener planet in the UK, but while people’s hearts may be in the right place on sustainability, these thoughts do not always translate into best practice,” he said.

“It’s therefore our mission at Rehau to ensure all windows are recycled when being replaced by a Rehau installer, and all new windows eventually manufactured with a form of recycled polymer. In order to do this, we need collaboration throughout the supply chain. Installers are at the coal face of consumer behaviour, and therefore their insight is imperative to start us on this journey.

“In taking part in this survey, installers will be helping us to make incremental steps further towards our organisation’s highly ambitious sustainability targets, as well as our commitment to the circular economy and a ‘planet before profit’ mantra.”

Those who take part in the survey will automatically be placed in a draw to win a £100 Amazon voucher.
