Specialist Glass Products has been shortlisted for Manufacturer of the Year (under £25 million) at the Insider Made in Yorkshire Awards.

The Yorkshire family-run business has invested over £6 million in the past 48 months to extend its manufacturing area from 30,000ft2 to 72,000ft2 and equip the new facility with the latest state-of-the-art machinery, currently allowing it to process, cut, toughen, bend and laminate glass up to 6,000mm x 3,210mm.

SGP’s products can be found in many installations at prestigious locations such as the Shard, O2 Arena, the Gherkin (30 St Mary Axe), Hendricks’s Gin Palace, King’s Cross Station, Cambridge University, Sage Gateshead and Wembley Stadium.

The firm also used its skills and capabilities to create glass ‘sneeze screens’ to protect people from the spread of Covid.

The specialist glass manufacturer is among seven companies shortlisted for the Manufacturer of the Year (under £25 million) award.

MD Andrew Taylor said: “We’re so pleased that the judges have recognised our hard work and contribution to the region. We have worked hard to retain and employ further employees during the pandemic while investing in state-of-the-art machinery to provide the highest quality products for our customers.”

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday July 29 at the Hilton Hotel, Leeds.
