Hogging the limelight

In September 2013, a group of wild hogs hit the headlines when they terrorised an Atlanta suburb, leaving many residents afraid to leave their homes. Six years later, a bunch of not quite so feral Pigs will be descending on the American city, although this time the locals have no need to be afraid.

The People in Glazing Society’s bonus event will be held in tandem with GlassBuild America in Atlanta on Wednesday September 18 and it’s doubtful that attendees will “eat people’s trash and lounge around in their yards”.

“I found the story about these wild hogs by accident and I just thought it was hilarious,” Sarah Ball from Balls2 Marketing, organisers of the industry networking event, said. “However, we all know that our regular Pigs are far better behaved so residents don’t need to panic.”

Taking place at the Gibney’s Pub from 6pm onwards, this will be the second time that Pigs has been held stateside.

Sarah said: “We organised an event in Las Vegas in 2016 and it was a great success. Since then we’ve been asked several times to organise another American Pigs night. It’ll be fantastic to catch up with people over there and tick Atlanta off the Pigs list.”

Pigs is free to attend and is supported by the generosity of its sponsors. All money from Pigs supporters goes behind the bar to get the evening started. Atlanta sponsors so far are: The Georgian Bar Company, WinTek, Emplas, Edgetech, Glazpart, National Glass Association, and Regalead.

Back in the UK, the regular Pigs dates for the rest of 2019 are: September 5 in Glasgow, and November 7 in Birmingham.
