Excellent initiative

Jeld-Wen won the Health and Safety award at the recent British Woodworking Federation (BWF) Awards 2021, held at the Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel.

This year marks the 13th anniversary of the annual awards, which celebrate outstanding achievement, skills and talent from across the woodworking and joinery sector.

Jeld-Wen won in its category for its collaboration in developing, testing and introducing an advanced Radio Frequency Tag System, to protect pedestrians from moving industrial vehicles.

The judges commended the business on “an excellent initiative that recognises the inherent danger from moving vehicles in a work environment and utilises modern technology to minimise risk of injury to pedestrians”.

Helen Hewitt, chief executive of the BWF, said: “Every year I’m amazed at the hard work, innovation and incredible skill that is demonstrated in our sector and it gives me so much pride at what is achieved.”
