Strongest window restrictor
The folding restrictor from manufacturer Jackloc is the strongest on the market, according to managing director Eric Collins.
Window restrictors are important in environments with children, vulnerable adults and patients in care, to prevent falls and to provide protection.
With a good quality restrictor in place, these places can enjoy the benefits of having windows open, while staff can have peace of mind that accidental falls through open windows should not happen. Ground floor windows can also be protected from non-supervised exits, as well as against intruders.
In the care sector particularly, window restrictors are advised to be used by the Department of Health. Guidelines state that window restrictors must comply with BS EN 13126-5:2011 standards to hold a force of 350N being applied to the window. In addition, following a fatal falling incident in 2012, an Estates and Facilities Alert was issued in 2013, suggesting that restrictors should hold a force of 500N, or that two restrictors may need to be used if one alone is insufficient to manage.
With this amendment, it became more important than ever for Jackloc to look at its product range and how it fits in ever-adapting markets.
The Jackloc Folding Window Restrictor is the strongest restrictor available, tested to withstand a force of 4800N, 74 stone, or the equivalent of five men when that force was applied to an open window with the restrictor fitted.
Jackloc built the folding restrictor intentionally for the care market, but it has many applications in other sectors too, including the domestic market.WhileJackloc’s cable restrictors are best sellers in the parenting field, the company is taking the product to The Baby Show in London this month to get parents’ feedback.
The restrictor can be fitted to side or top hung windows and, as with all Jackloc products, it can be fitted to PVCU, timber and metal frames.
The product comes with speciality, case hardened and high quality zinc coated security clutch head screws and a 10-year guarantee.
Since joining Jackloc earlier this year, I’ve been incredibly impressed with the folding restrictor. It’s a fantastic product – it’s sleek, streamlined and, more importantly, it’s extraordinarily strong. To have such a compelling product in our portfolio allows us to offer a wide range of possibilities to the market. The product has been very well received by the trade and customers alike and we’re excited to spend time over the next few months increasing awareness.
To support the communication around the product, Jackloc is demonstrating the restrictor at a series of events this autumn, including care conferences and exhibitions. A new brochure for the care market has been designed, and a series of infographics and imagery will be promoted.
The team is busy presenting the product to trade and there is a range of sales material available for retail to use, including videos, images and graphics.
