Quality as standard

Premium hardware is arguably one of the most important components of a window and door – which is why a growing number of Coastal Group’s customers are now fitting the Blu range as standard.

With an increasing number of door manufacturers fitting its door handles as standard, Coastal Group says that it contacted two customers to discover why they standardise on the company’s Blu range, rather than offering it as an upgrade.

‘Customer A’ reported: “We never skimp on handles as the handle is the main object you touch to open the door. A low-cost handle will give our customer a ‘low cost’ impression of our overall door offering. What’s an extra £25 in the grand scheme of things compared to the cost of the door?”

‘Customer B’ responded: “The majority of homeowners who come to us look for attention to detail. We used to offer the Blu lever door handle as an optional upgrade but we found 80% of our customers wanted this better handle, and were more than willing to pay the extra.

“So, we decided to make things simpler for both us and the homeowner by standardising on the Blu lever door handle and increase our door cost by £40.”

Neil Jones, Coastal’s head of marketing, explained: “It’s all about adding value for the end user. With homeowners spending more time at home, they’re looking for products which bring them easy living, high comfort and an enhanced quality of life. They’re looking for products which combine beautiful design, durability and high performance.

“This comes right down to the finer details such as the hardware fitted to their entrance doors and windows. The hardware is the one thing homeowners use every time they open their door or window.”

“It’s why we put so much effort into research and development and product innovation at Coastal Group,” continued managing director, Loren Jenner. “Each door and window hardware product we design and manufacture must enhance and add value to doors and windows, rather than make them look and feel inferior.”

According to Coastal, recent studies have shown that homeowners are more likely to buy products they see as being more sustainable. The company argues that a quality handle that doesn’t have to be replaced due to corrosion or failure is a much more sustainable option than two or three handles needing to be fitted over the lifetime of the door.

Nobody wants a pitted or corroded handle after six months on their door. Coastal manufactures the Blu hardware range from 316 marine grade stainless steel – to ensure the best protection from corrosion and to deliver the highest level of durability and performance.

For additional peace of mind, the Blu hardware range comes with a ‘class-beating’ lifetime guarantee.

This means that if a property is on the coast or in a busy city location, installers and fabricators can specify and fit Coastal Group’s Blu range of hardware to entrance doors and windows with the confidence that it will look good and perform well for many years to come.
