New range of glazing cassettes

Dan Sullivan, Doorco MD, introduces Flip, Doorco’s cassette system for the composite door market.

The contemporary composite door market has been growing steadily for a number of years: Doorco was one of the trailblazers with the launch of the Monza door back in 2014.

With its linear eight-panel design and book-matched woodgrain detail, Monza is one of our best-selling products. We also have Links, launched in 2017, which remains the only aluminium-replica GRP composite door available to the market.

When it comes to design, doors are a canvas, and the possibilities should be endless. What has been restricting these possibilities, however, is the lack of complementary glazing options. Others have tried to solve this issue, but no new designs have been launched that have anywhere near the same qualities as the current bestselling traditional system, and there’s a reluctance from incumbent cassette manufacturers to make any substantial development investment.

Doorco is committed to innovation and recognised this situation was really holding back customers who want to take contemporary doors to the next level. Doorco’s independently owned status, paired with our team’s experience and knowledge of the sector, allowed us to take a considered and conscientious approach to developing our own range of glazing cassettes. We’ve worked with UK-based designers to create a system that is more flexible, more practical, and aesthetically pleasing. The result is Flip.

Flip is the new glazing cassette system developed by Doorco and made in the UK. The revolutionary Foam in Place technology offers pre-sealed outer frames delivering a superior seal, with structural connectors that are flexible to use with 24mm-26mm glass units and a unique tilting head that adjusts to the thickness of the glass.

The angled corner protector adds reduces corner flare and supports heavy units, with an optional component to insert in larger apertures offering additional security if needed.

Flip is quick and easy to install too. The components are consistent throughout the whole system, which uses a simple click-together mechanism that requires minimal use of tools (just a screwdriver), resulting in a cassette that sits fit flush to the surface of the door. The cassettes are fully re-glazeable.

Flip has undergone extensive testing to ensure it is weatherproof and secure. Doorsets containing the system have been tested to BS6375-2015 and in accordance with EN1027. Furthermore, they achieved over 1000pa through the glazing aperture during weather testing. This is further supported by Doorco’s 10-year warranty on Flip.

Flip offers the freedom to choose the design, finish and colour to suit any style of house and make a unique statement. Flip is available in three design options to include clean, modern profiles through to traditional bevels, all with a low profile to fit nicely with the overall design of the door:

Traditional with Standard – the redesigned moulded option with a woodgrain finish.

Eclectic with Flat Grained – squared-off flat profile with a woodgrain effect.

Modern with Flat Stipple – squared-off flat profile with a smooth, stippled effect that matches Links.

Flip’s Through Colour Technology ensures a perfect match to the standard Doorco colour range. We have nine colours in our standard range, or you can go bespoke and choose any shade with our colour matching service. This colour technology makes Flip the perfect partner to any Doorco door.

For Doorco, having our own cassette system is an exciting advancement. By focusing on offering the complete composite door package and having the product made in the UK, we have greater control and are able to offer better guarantees to customers.

And when it comes to enhancing our contemporary door collection, the possibilities really are now endless.
